About Women in Leadership

Women in Leadership is a female-led, grassroots charity working alongside women and girls to advance their rights through health, education and economic empowerment.

Our work began in Uganda, where we have partnered with communities to challenge inequality and support women and girls to shape their own futures. We believe that women and girls have the right to make informed decisions about their bodies, access education and opportunity, live free from violence, and participate fully in the decisions that affect their lives.

Our approach

We turn women’s rights into practical action. Our programmes improve access to sexual and reproductive health information, support and justice; help women and girls develop literacy, knowledge, confidence and leadership; and equip women with practical skills and opportunities to build sustainable livelihoods.

We work with women and girls, community leaders, local service providers and partners to create change that is locally led and lasting.

Our commitment

Women in Leadership is committed to listening to the women and girls we work alongside. Their experiences and leadership guide our work, from the issues we address to the ways we develop solutions with communities.

We are building a future in which women and girls can access their rights, pursue their ambitions and lead change in their own communities.
