Tailoring Project

Thanks to the support of Tools with a Mission (TWAM) our tailoring project in Uganda equips women with practical sewing and garment-making skills that can help them build sustainable livelihoods and greater financial independence. Through hands-on training, women learn skills they can use to earn an income, support their families and create new economic opportunities within their communities. The programme is designed particularly for women who may have had limited access to formal education, employment or vocational training.

But the project is about more than learning to sew. Economic empowerment can strengthen a woman’s confidence, independence and ability to make choices about her own life. By bringing women together to learn, develop their skills and support one another, the programme creates a space in which women can recognise their abilities and build towards a more secure future. It reflects our wider belief that when women have access to skills, resources and opportunities, they are better placed to exercise their rights and participate fully in their families, communities and economies.

BaNyabo project

The BaNyabo project aims at giving women and girls craft-making skills to help them generate their own sustainable income. On the project women and girls learn how to use local materials to create necklaces, bracelets, earrings and bags. The women can then use these skills to begin making crafts for sale independently or can remain part of the group making crafts for sale on our website and through our fair trade partners Arthisans thrive.
